Angola Economy
The African economy of Angola has an estimated population of 19 million in 2014 and an economy that ranks 65th in the world according to the IMF in 2013 (GDP PPP 130 Billion). IMF also indicates that per capita its GDP PPP was 6,247 vs 53,101 (United States). Its national currency is the Angolan kwanza (AOA) which is issued by the Banco Nacional de Angola (www.bna.ao), the central bank of Angola. The official national language is Portuguese, with banking websites mostly written in Portuguese. Banking within the country offers similar products available in other countries elsewhere including fixed term deposit accounts (called Depósitos a Prazo in Portuguese). Statistics from the CIA.gov website indicate that consumer inflation was 8.9% in 2013 and 10.3% in 2012.
